Join us on February 12th at 4:00 PM EST (ZOOM) for another session of our New Books in Caribbean Studies series! We will discuss recent publications from our very own faculty affiliates, Kaysha Corinealdi, Elena Lahr-Vivaz, and Imani Owens.
- In Panama in Black, Kaysha Corinealdi traces the multigenerational activism of Afro-Caribbean Panamanians as they forged diasporic communities in Panama and the United States throughout the twentieth century.
- In Writing Islands, Elena Lahr-Vivaz analyzes works of contemporary Cuban writers on the island alongside those in exile and offers a new lens to explore the multiplicity of Cuban space and identity.
- In Turn the World Upside Down, Imani Owens explores how Black writers and performers reimagined folk forms through the lens of the unruly — that which cannot be easily governed, disciplined, or managed.
Community conversation led by Nicole Burrowes, Carter Mathes, & Hugh Godfroy
