Nicole Burrowes, RAICCS Associate Director, has a new book coming out in August 2026 titled, Seeds of Solidarity: African-Indian Relations and the 1935 Labor Rebellion in British Guiana (Cambridge University Press)!
Yesenia Barragan has a new book coming out in November 2026 titled, In Latin America You Could be Free (Basic Books)!
Elena Lahr-Vivaz shares that in May, she presented her work, “Archipelagic Adaptations of Revolution and Romance: La isla de los amores infinitos,” at the Latin American Studies Association and Asociación de Estudios de Género y Sexualidades.

Belinda Edmondson, shares that she is currently working on Black Dickens: Henry Garland Murray and the World of Nineteenth Century Jamaica, a biography of a black Jamaican journalist, performer and author who published the first mostly Creole (“dialect”) story in the anglophone Caribbean in the late nineteenth century. In Fall 2026 she will be a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, University of Oxford, where she will continue her research for this project.
